List of Psychic Scams
Bad luck curse or spell
This is the oldest and most common of all the psychic scams. It’s when a supposed psychic (*ahem*) tells you you’re cursed or have a dark presence around you.
Here’s how this scam works:
In most cases, the “psychic” gives you a vague reading to “prove” themselves to you. Then, they tell you that a curse is the reason why bad things have been happening to you… and why you can’t seem to make any progress in life no matter how hard you try.
And at this point, many people start thinking: Hey, I have had a string of bad luck lately. Maybe this psychic is right!
This is exactly what they’re counting on. They want you to feel insecure or scared. This is the “hook” they use to reel you in further.
Next, they tell you that they can cure you of this negativity. But of course, this requires you to pay them a fee — often a hefty one.
Now, they may insist that you set up another appointment so they can make sure the curse is gone. And when you do go back, they tell you that things are worse than they originally thought, and that they need more money to help you…
And this is how these psychic scams keep going.
Sadly, I’ve heard of people losing hundreds to over a hundred thousand dollars to psychic scams.
This happens to people from all walks of life, including those that are educated. You have to remember: fake psychics are pros at preying on people when they are vulnerable. But you won’t be scammed because you are learning the red flags. :)
Tips for Finding Real Psychics:

Tips to Avoiding Psychic Scams (Red Flags)
Of all the different psychic scams, the bad luck curse or spell is the easiest to spot.
Just pay attention for these key words or phrases… they’re all red flags:
- Someone has put a bad luck curse on you
- There is an ancestral curse on you
- There is a curse on someone you love and something bad is going to happen to them
- A dark energy or evil spirit is around you
All of that is junk. If you hear the words curse or spell, it’s a scam.
The Truth About Negative Energy
When a real psychic senses negativity around you (like an icky work environment), they will give you tips for clearing it. For example, they may tell you to surround yourself with white light. But it would not cost extra or thousands of dollars in fees.
Another Red Flag
Be leery of psychics that approach you, especially if they ask for money or mention any of the junk we talked about. Real psychics don’t invade your privacy and give you a reading without permission.
Worried About Ghosts? Here’s a Tip:
If you are worried about paranormal activity in your home, you may want to call a paranormal group. If you don’t have one in your area, reach out to one of the legitimate groups, such as TAPS. As always, be sure to do your due diligence.
If something feels funny, trust your gut!
OK, now that you are a pro at spotting curse scams, let’s move on to online scams:
