Four times you should NOT get a psychic reading.
I know what you’re thinking, “Wait, don’t you want me to get a psychic reading? Aren’t readings super helpful, and isn’t that what this blog is all about?”
Well, yes and YES!
Intuitive, tarot, and mediumship readings are powerful tools when used for personal empowerment.
Unlike fake psychics (learn how to spot one of those here), real psychics are ethical and only want the best for their clients.
With that said, there are four times when you should absolutely not get psychic reading (especially number 3).
Here they are…

4 Times You Should NOT Get a Psychic Reading
1. Nothing Has Changed Since Your Last Reading
It’s helpful to have a few psychic readings a year to realign with your true self and make sure you’re on the right path.
I mean, life is full of questions, right?
- Why am I hesitating over something I thought I wanted?
- How can I reconnect with my partner again?
- Will this Netflix show become my new guilty pleasure? (kidding, we all know it will :))
But don’t get a reading if nothing has changed since your last reading…
In other words, don’t call a psychic for advice if it’s the same old story with that guy. Wait until there’s been a shift in the relationship and THEN get another love psychic reading.
Not only will this encourage you to trust your intuition, it will also ensure you don’t become dependent on psychic advice. (BTW, here are 6 signs that you are addicted to psychics).

Pro tip: After your reading, start asking your own intuition for guidance. It will help you use your free will and make some positive moves! (Learn how free will changes psychic predictions here. It’s soooo fascinating!)
2. You’re Becoming Dependent
Some intuitive readers don’t limit the amount of times a client can see them and continue to regurgitate the same advice over and over.
One psychic I knew would give a reading to the same man every day… about the same thing. Crazy, right?
Though this type of behavior is normal on TV (like on Friends, where Phoebe saw her psychic weekly), it’s not empowering.
So, before you pick up your iPhone to chat with your fave psychic, set an intention for your reading. This will help you get to the heart of the issue and empower your socks off!
Your intention could be to:
- Confirm a feeling that you are having…am I really in love with him? (Read: Can a Psychic Predict Who You’ll Marry)
- Feel more peace in your heart
- Find clarity about your relationship, career, etc.
And of course, you can never go wrong by setting the intention that the reading is for your highest and best good!

3. You’re Psychic “Hopping”
This one all comes down to intention. We would never tell you to stick with a psychic that you’re uncomfortable with or don’t feel connected to.
But… if you find yourself on the hunt for a new psychic after every reading or so, do some digging.
Some people like to mix it up and get psychic advice from different readers for fun, which is cool.
Pro tip: If you’re getting a second or third reading to “double check” the first, it could mean you’re searching for a specific answer rather than the truth. You may also need to spend time connecting with a psychic you trust. This post will teach you how to do that. And if you’ve had a bad psychic reading, this post will tell you what you should do.
4. You’re Feeling Suicidal
If you are feeling suicidal, seek help from a therapist, hospital, or suicide hotline, NOT a psychic.
IF YOU ARE AT RISK FOR SUICIDE, HOMICIDE OR OTHER HARM OR INJURY, PLEASE CALL 911 (OR ITS EQUIVALENT WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED INCLUDING 000 IN AUSTRALIA, 999 OR 112 IN ENGLAND AND 111 IN NEW ZEALAND) OR SEEK OTHER HELP (SUCH AS A CRISIS HOTLINE, HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM OR DOCTOR’S CARE) IMMEDIATELY.
In the U.S. you can receive confidential and free help by calling the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
Psychic Reading Takeaways
It all boils down to this: You have free will and all choices are ultimately up to you. Yay! :)
Psychic advice can be helpful and empowering. But, never let it distract you from your own intuition. And never rely on a psychic or tarot reader to make choices for you.
Instead, use their gifts as tools to find clarity. If you’re ready for a psychic reading, talk to a 5-star psychic now. (New clients get 50% off their first reading!)
