How to See Your Aura
What is an Aura?
An aura is an energy field that surrounds all living things. Humans have an aura, as do plants, trees, and animals.
In spiritual terms: your aura is a vibration that you put out to those around you… it’s your energy.
Have You Ever Sensed an Aura?
Have you ever felt an immediate sense of joy or anxiety when someone walked into a room? Or, picked up on someone’s depression or anger without them speaking a word?
That was you sensing their aura!
You may not have seen their aura with your physical eyes, but you felt their energy. Pretty cool, right?
And when you know what to look for and how to do it, you can learn how to see your aura, too! And the best part is that you don’t have to be psychic to do this… It’s something everybody can learn.
All it takes is an open mind and willingness to practice.
So, let’s look at your aura!
Exercise to See Your Aura
The following exercise is easy, but don’t be fooled… it’s powerful! It’s also one of the best ways to learn how to see your aura.
With a little practice, you’ll be well on your way to seeing the colors in your energy fields!
1. Find the right lighting
This is a super important step. Some people like to wait until the dusky light of evening when it’s just getting dark. (For me, this works best and is more fun, too!)
Others choose to practice seeing their aura in the daylight. I recommend you try different options out and see what works best for you.
You have to be able to relax in order to see your own aura. It’s key!
So, light some candles, turn on some soft background music, or meditate for a little while to relax. This will help clear your mind. Remember: without a clear and open mind, it will be harder to focus.
Tip: If you use candles, you don’t want a lot of them. Instead, they should give off a little light in a dark room.
Now that you’re relaxed, let’s dig in to the aura exercise…
3. Place your index finger and thumb together
Start by gently rubbing your fingers together. As you do, take relaxing breaths and focus on your fingers.
Now, keep rubbing your fingers together until they feel “sticky…” Meaning, you’ll feel like one of your fingers is stuck to the other one. You may even have a sensation that your two fingers are now one.
4. Separate your fingers
Once you get that “sticky” feeling, slowly pull your fingers apart so that there’s some space (about 1 cm) between them. Then, keep focusing on the area between your fingers, and take notice of any color or “fog.” This is your aura. Yay!
Tip: It doesn’t matter how faint the color or fog is. You skills will get stronger with practice.
Tips and Takeaways
Anyone can learn how to see their aura… you don’t have to be psychic ability or intuitive gifts.
But, if this exercise didn’t work the first time, don’t get discouraged. Remember, anything new takes practice (especially if your not used to relaxing!)
Here are some tips that should help:

- Do the exercise when you are in a relaxed state, not rushed and frazzled.
- Remember not to make a lot of friction when doing this exercise.
