There are four main ways to receive intuitive information. If you’re learning how to be psychic, you’ll get to know these well!
- clairvoyance – seeing
- clairaudience – hearing
- clairsentience – feeling
- claircognizance – knowing
You may be able to receive information in ALL four ways. Usually though, one or two of these gifts will be stronger than the others. In other words, clairsentience (feeling and sensing things) may be easier for you than clairaudience (psychic hearing).
By taking the time to pinpoint and refine your senses, learning how to be psychic will be much easier. Why? Because you can start with what feels more natural to you.
What to Do:
- Look over the four major types of abilities below. You don’t have to have every trait in a category – just get a feel for where you fit best. Do you feel as though you fit into more than one category? Great! That probably means you can receive intuitive information in more than one way.
- Once you learn what you’re naturally good at, start practicing on strengthening those abilities first.
Also known as second sight, clairvoyance means clear seeing.
People who are clairvoyant will receive intuitive information visually in the form of pictures, visions, and symbols, etc. It’s an inner seeing that typically takes place within the mind’s eye.
Clairvoyants are often visually oriented. They may be visual learners and artistically creative.
You may be clairvoyant if you:
✓ Have ever seen twinkling lights out of the corner of your eye or off in the distance
✓ Are a visual learner
✓ Have had very vivid dreams
✓ Find it easy to use your imagination or to daydream
✓ Appreciate fine art and beautiful things, such as interior design, etc.
✓ Enjoy drawing or hobbies of an artistic nature
✓ Are good at visualizing
✓ Have seen a spirit in your mind’s eye or in physical form
✓ Have had a psychic vision
Also known as psychic hearing, clairaudience means clear hearing. This is when you hear things from your Higher Self (that “little voice inside”) and from spirit (such as your spirit guides).
Usually, this is an inner hearing, but on occasion, words and sounds may be heard externally as well.
You may be clairaudient if you:
✓ Are sensitive to noise – a loud t.v. may bother someone who is clairaudient
✓ Are musically inclined
✓ Find it enjoyable to write or create your own music – you may even be able to hear what these songs sound like in your head before you’ve created them
✓ Hear ringing in the ears from time to time (without medical cause)
✓ Have heard voices or your name being called when no one was around
✓ Find that you learn best using the auditory channel (i.e. listening to a book on tape rather than reading a book)
Clairsentience means clear feeling. It can be summed up in the expression, trust your gut! Empathy (feeling the emotions of others) is also part of clairsentience.
You may be clairsentient if you:
✓ Feel the emotions of others – are empathetic
✓ Avoid reading the newspaper or watching the news because it can be upsetting
✓ Get emotional watching sad movies
✓ Find that your mood declines when you are in a negative environment, or after having spent time around someone who is irritable
✓ Are sensitive to your surroundings – a cluttered house, for example, might bother you
✓ Get good or bad feelings about people that you’ve just met
✓ Get good or bad feelings about situations
Sometimes when you’re learning how to be psychic, you just know something… but you don’t know how you know it. That’s claircognizance.
Claircognizance means clear knowing. It’s a sense of knowing – like when you know something, but logically, there is no explanation for how you can know it.
You may be claircognizant if you:
✓ Have ideas that pop into your head out of the blue
✓ Know when someone is lying or being insincere to you, even when you have no proof
✓ Knew what the outcome of a situation would be
✓ Tend to be very analytical
Now that you have an idea of the ways that you receive intuitive information, it’s time to do some psychic development exercises. And remember to practice meditating every day. Here’s the meditation I’ve used since 2000. It’s a beautiful meditation and works!
