Psychic attack. Oh, my! The thought of it scares me, but probably not for the reason you might think. Let’s take a look at this freaky phenomenon to see if you should be worried about it or not.
What Is Psychic Attack?
In short, psychic attack is said to be when a person or non-physical (dark) entity causes you physical or emotional harm by invading your thoughts and/or energy fields.
That’s a terrifying thought, isn’t it?
In the physical world, if we feel unsafe, we can do things to protect ourselves: Lock our doors, set alarms, etc.
But the thought of someone energetically harming us – something that we cannot see or pinpoint – well, that’s downright scary!
The thing that concerns me the most is that more and more people (especially those new in their intuitive or mediumship development) are buying into this idea that psychic attack is something common and widespread. It’s not.
I recently read a book that was written by a professional psychic. In almost every chapter, the phenomenon of psychic attack was discussed, including an entire chapter devoted to protection.
If I had read this book when I was first developing my abilities, it would have scared the wits out of me. I would have ditched working with my intuitive gifts pronto!
I may be in the minority here, but I feel that the whole concept is blown way out of proportion. A quick Google search will result in a slew of articles about this topic. And most of these articles are terrifying! Apparently, some of the common “symptoms” of psychic attack include:
- inability to think clearly
- physical illness
- mood swings
These symptoms can be caused by just about anything, including stress and lack of sleep. It really worries me that people might notice “warning signs” such as these and jump to the conclusion that something or someone is out to get them.
This could lead folks to seek out unethical energy workers and fall victim to psychic scams.
Do You Need to Worry?
I can tell you that since I started working in this field in 2000, I have never encountered anyone who was under psychic attack. I’ve also never heard of a colleague or mentor who had encountered it, or was worried about it.
If you are new to spiritual development and this is something that concerns you, consider these two points:
1. Intention – When you are working with your psychic gifts (this includes while you are developing your abilities) your intentions are to work in the Light. You will always be setting the intention prior to practicing or working with clients that your session is for the highest and best of those involved.
2. Your “Peeps” – You have a spiritual team that is made up of spirit guides, angels, ascended masters, etc. These guys and gals have your back. They aren’t sleeping on the job, and they aren’t going to let a negative presence get through to you.
Is Psychic Attack Possible?
Can Other People Attack You?
I do not believe that another human being can enter your energetic fields without your permission either in your dreams, or while you are awake.
Empaths (and even introverts) can sometimes feel drained after being around large groups of people, or certain individuals. That is something totally different, and is not psychic attack. (There are actually some simple strategies that empaths can use to overcome this.)
For instance, I had a family member who always made me feel bad when I was around her. She would direct negative comments towards me, and this made me feel terrible. It bothered me a lot and made me feel drained, tired, and stressed. But it was not because I was under psychic attack.
I needed to do some personal empowerment work and set clearer boundaries with this woman. Once I did, everything changed. You can read a bit more about how I overcame this situation here.
What About Spirit Attack?
This isn’t my area of expertise (I work closely with my guides and am really clear about working only in the Light), but from what I have heard from trusted sources, true spirit attack is an extremely rare occurrence. And I mean really, really, super rare.
Several years ago, I had the privilege to take a seminar with respected ghost hunter and demonologist husband and wife team, Keith and Sandra Johnson. They had a great energy about them and really knew their stuff!
My intention in taking the seminar was to understand a little bit about the spooky side of things in case I ever ran into anything unpleasant.
During the seminar, we were shown footage of some of their extreme investigations, including an exorcism that they had performed. And that was enough for me! I decided to stick with the Light!
Is that sort of stuff really out there? Maybe… maybe not. If you are concerned that you might have a negative entity around you, or in your home, contact a trusted paranormal group such as TAPS or New England Anomalies Research.
Intuitive development and mediumship are not dangerous. I’ve never heard of anyone becoming the victim of psychic attack due to their gifts. Here some final tips for working in the Light:
- Get into the habit of setting the intention that your work is for the highest and best good.
- Surround yourself with white light each day.
- Be happy! Negative emotions vibrate at a lower frequency. Good feeling thoughts will keep your vibration up and make it easier to connect with spirit.
