I know what you’re thinking, “Wait, don’t you want me to get a psychic reading? Isn’t that what you do?”
Uh, yes and YES!
Intuitive, tarot, and mediumship readings are an incredibly helpful and powerful tool – when done at the correct times.
I love what I do (I think that’s been pretty obvious)! And, I love it enough to make sure it’s used right.
Unlike fake psychics (check out how to spot one of those here!), true Lightworkers are bound by ethics and only want the best for their clients. With that said, here are 4 times when you should not get a reading:
4 Times When You Should NOT Seek Psychic Advice
1. Nothing has changed since your last reading
I used to limit my clients to one or two readings per year, but I’ve loosened that policy a bit where I’ll now read for the same person a few times a year as long as:
- We’re discussing a different topic than last time.
- There has been a change or recent development in their situation.
For example, if you and I were discussing your career and three months later nothing has changed, I would not recommend you have another session to talk about your career. It’s a waste of your money and time to pay to discuss the same exact thing over and over.
I have this policy in place to discourage psychic dependency, and to encourage your own intuition. Life is FULL of questions, right?
Is it time to look for a new place?
Should you go back to school?
Will this Netflix show become your new guilty pleasure?
At the end of the day, it’s really easy to stay where we’re comfortable and not make any moves. But once you have your reading, your intuition and free will need to kick in.
Otherwise, you will stay stuck in this cycle. So go forth and make some positive moves! :)
2. If you’re becoming dependent
Some psychic readers do not limit the amount of times a client can see them. They do as many readings as the client wants and continue to regurgitate the same advice over and over.
I don’t agree with this, because it doesn’t empower people to use their own free will.
One psychic I met told me that she would give a reading to the same man every day! This went on for MONTHS!
I mean, holy cow, people!
This man would promptly arrive at 5:00 p.m. each Monday through Friday evening for his daily reading. (If you’re curious, he was an attorney and wanted the psychic reader to predict how he would do in court each next day. So many levels of scary here!)
The level of dependency demonstrated here is extremely unhealthy – he had become so dependent that he couldn’t make a decision without consulting a psychic.
This type of behavior has been normalized on TV shows (like on Friends, where Phoebe saw her psychic weekly), but I personally feel that readers have an ethical responsibility not to allow psychic dependency.
If you are consulting intuitive readers too frequently, check out this article about psychic dependency.
Also, stop and think for a moment about why you are in this situation. At the root of every psychic dependency is an issue that is unresolved.
When we are in a crisis, we want someone to tell us that everything is going to be okay, and that we are making the right decisions. This is a totally NORMAL human thing that we ALL desire… but, this desire could be why you’re running to get a reading too frequently.
Once you recognize the reason behind your behavior pattern, it’s much easier to break.
3. If you’re psychic “shopping”
This one all comes down to intention. I would never tell you to stick with a psychic that you’re uncomfortable with or don’t feel connected to!
But… if you find yourself on the hunt for a new psychic after ever reading or so, do some digging.
Some people just like to mix it up and get psychic advice from different readers just for fun – which I think is cool.
However, if you find that you’re “psychic hopping” because you can’t connect with any reader, check out these tips.
Also, stop and ask yourself if you’re getting a second, and third, and fourth reading just to “double check” the first psychic. This could mean you’re searching for a specific answer rather than the truth.
4. If you’re feeling suicidal
If you are feeling suicidal, please seek help from a therapist, hospital, or suicide hotline (phone number below) – but NOT from a psychic.
It is never a good idea to get psychic advice if you are feeling suicidal – this is far outside of our realm.
You can receive confidential and free help by calling the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
It all boils down to this: You have free will and all choices are ultimately up to you!
Psychic advice can be eye-opening and helpful on occasion, but your life is in your own hands. A reading should empower you and offer clarity – never let it distract from your own intuition – and never rely on a psychic to make choices for you!
