People often search for an absolutely free online psychic reading because, let's face it, seeing a legitimate intuitive can be expensive. But, is this a good idea? Is that 'free' reading really free after all?
There is one super popular website that offers an absolutely
free online psychic reading for the first three minutes for newbies to their
site. Actually, many of the popular psychic hotlines have introductory offers like this.
Sounds generally awesome, doesn't it? Maybe not...
The first thing I noticed is that you have to give your credit card information up front in case you go over your allotted time. I would think that the majority of people go over their allotted time – if they didn’t, the site wouldn’t make much money.
Also, do you know what you can cover in three minutes? Not much – and this is what these websites are counting on. They want to leave you hanging so that you will stay on that phone as long as possible. Can you say cha-ching?
So let's take a look at what the absolutely free online psychic reading could potentially cost:
If the psychic charges $6.99 after the first 3 minutes and
it takes you 30 minutes to get your answer – which it most likely will - that
absolutely free online psychic reading just cost you $188.73! (30 minutes – 3 free
minutes = 27 minutes) Ouch!
Many of the sites I looked at work this way. One site said that when your free minutes are almost up, you will hear a chime - at that point you can pay for more time if you wish.
Are you thinking that you just want a sneak peek – a few free minutes to see if you
like it? I would definitely advise against this.
You wouldn't visit a new hairdresser
and ask them to cut a small portion of your hair to see if you’ll like it,
would you? No, you would probably get referrals from friends and find a
salon that has a good reputation.
Many reputable psychics will refund your money within the first few minutes of your session if you feel uncomfortable, or if the psychic feels that they cannot read you.
You are much better off trying to find an ethical reader rather than risking it.
It may sound like I'm bashing psychic hotlines - I'm not. There are definitely some fantastic and legitimate readers that work for psychic hotlines. I know some of them personally. The problem is that it's hard to weed out the real intuitive readers from the non-legitimate ones.
Usually, all that's on these websites is a small picture of the psychic with a name (and the name is often fake - names like Angel Moon are common), and a very brief and vague bio.
Are you willing to take a shot in the dark and risk it? You really don’t know what kind of training these people have had, if any, or what their values and ethics are.
Many of these sites do very minimal screening of the people they hire. I heard a story about one man who worked for a popular psychic hotline. He would tell his clients that he needed a few moments to shuffle his tarot deck and "tune" into it. But that's not what he was doing at all. He was making himself a sandwich while leaving clients hanging on the phone so that he would make more money!
And you know, it's sad that these people do this. They ruin it for the ethical readers who are gifted and want to help people.
One site I checked out offers free email readings when you sign up on their site. What you do is email one question and they will email you back with an answer. They had the option to “view a sample reading” which I did. The answer was very general and really could have applied to anyone. Not very helpful.
